Key Features
- Voice commands — say things like “Go to John 3”, “Read Psalm 23”, “Next Chapter”, “Read from verse 4”, or ask a question like “How many chapters in Genesis?” Voice recognition currently requires Google Chrome.
- Type or pick a reference — a text box accepts typed references directly, and dropdown menus let you pick a Book, Chapter, and Verse instead, for anyone who’d rather not use voice or free text at all.
- Six translations — King James (KJV), English Standard Version (ESV), New Living Translation (NLT), American Standard (ASV), World English (WEB), and Young’s Literal (YLT), switchable at any time.
- Text-to-speech reading — have the current passage read aloud verse by verse, with the verse being read highlighted as it goes. Choose your reading voice and speed (0.5x–2x), and optionally have verse numbers read aloud too.
- Study resources for the passage you’re in — Matthew Henry’s commentary on the chapter and Thru the Bible’s Notes & Outlines on the book, opening automatically on whatever you’re reading, with a picker for looking somewhere else.
- Thru the Bible audio — J. Vernon McGee’s complete verse-by-verse radio teaching, all 4,997 broadcasts, matched to the exact passage on screen. Plays in its own bar so you can keep reading, or turning pages, while it runs.
- ESV chapter audio — a professionally recorded reading of the whole chapter, with a seek bar, separate from the text-to-speech voice.
- Reading plans — start a book plan (John, Proverbs, Mark, a Psalm a day) or build your own over any number of days. Days tick themselves off as you read, and you choose whether the plan keeps to the calendar or waits for you.
- Reading stats — day streaks, a week and month view, and progress bars for the Old Testament, New Testament and whole Bible.
- Highlights and notes — highlight a verse or a range in any of 24 colors, attach a note, and find everything again in one browser.
- Cross references and search — follow a verse to its related passages, or search the full text of the Bible.
- Deep display customization for low vision users — accent colors across Dark, Light, and Sepia modes, adjustable text size, font, weight, spacing, and zoom level.

Accessibility
- Every control is a real, keyboard-operable element with a proper accessible label; verses are individually focusable.
- A live region announces status changes (“Listening…”, “Reading…”) to screen readers.
- Dialogs trap keyboard focus while open, close with Escape, and return focus when closed.
- Large touch targets, a high-contrast focus outline, and independently adjustable text size, weight, and color theme (including a low-glare Sepia mode) support low vision users.
- Nothing depends on being able to speak or to see: every action is reachable by voice, by keyboard, and by pointer, and any one of the three is enough on its own.
